AJAX Login Pro

Extension page:

The AJAX Login Pro extension for Magento is an essential tool for those online owners who want to make login procedure as comfortable and fast for customers as possible. The less time visitors spend on logging in or registration, the higher customer experience is and the more registered users you get.

1. Backup your web directory and store database.

You can make backup copies with any tool you find appropriate

If you are going to use the native Magento backup function, navigate to System -> Tools -> Backups and perform System and Database backups

 2. Log in to the Magento backend

 3. Disable compilation

Navigate to System -> Tools -> Compilation.

If Compiler status is Disabled, you can skip to the next step

If Compiler is enabled, disable it.

IMPORTANT: after the extension is installed, you can enable the compilation again; IT IS CRUCIAL that you use "Run Compilation Process" function, not just "Enable button"

Installing an extension with the Compilation enabled will result in store downtime.

 4. Flush store cache

You can flush the store cache in 2 ways:

  • via the backend:

Navigate to System -> Cache Management menu, and click Flush Magento Cache button

  • via filesystem:

On your server, navigate to Magento root folder, then proceed to /var/cache/; delete all the content there.

 5. Download the extension package from your account and extract the downloaded archive

 6. Copy the content of /Step_1/ folder to your store's root directory

If you are using a custom theme,

 read the instructions here.

The extension comes with 2 design packages: /base/default/ and /rwd/default/ .

In case you are using a custom theme, it is recommended to copy the design files to your current theme's folders. In case there are several themes in use at the same store, the design files must be copied to each of them.

  • Find this folder in the package: /step_1/app/design/frontend/base/default/ ; copy its content to /app/design/frontend/[your_package]/[your_theme]/
  • Find this folder in the package: /step_1/skin/frontend/base/default/ ; copy its content to /skin/frontend/[your_package]/[your_theme]/

 7. Copy the content of /Step_2/ folder to your store's root directory

 8. Flush store cache again; log out from the backend and log in again.

Updating from AJAX Login Pro 1.0.0

After uploading the files of a new version, make sure to manually remove the following directories and files from your Magento folder:
/app/design/frontend/base/default/template/ajaxlogin/ (entire folder)
/skin/frontend/base/default/ajaxlogin/ (entire folder)
/app/design/frontend/base/default/layout/ajaxlogin.xml (single file)

General Settings

To configure the extension, go to System->Configuration->aheadWorks extensions->AJAX Login

General tab:

  • Enable Extension (Yes/No) - this option enables or disables the extension.

Note, this option has 'Global' scope, so it applies to all websites and stores.

How do I disable the extension for a particular theme?

Just upload an empty file 'ajaxlogin.xml' in your custom theme folder: /app/design/frontend/Your_Package/Your_Theme/layout/ and clear the cache. The AJAX Login Pro extension will not work on that theme.

How to disable the extension for a particular storeview?

In case you require to disable the extension on a certain store view, this can be done in the following way:

  1. Go to System->Configuration->Advanced->Advanced
  2. Change Current Configuration Scope (a dropdown on the top left of the page)
  3. Untick 'Use Website' box, select 'Disable' and save the settings.

Note, this operation will only disable the extension's output on frontend, but the extension will still be working in a background.

Login Form tab:

Through this tab, you can define how the extension behaves on customer login and logout.

  • Login Success Page and Logout Success Page - these options allow selecting the redirect targets. Here's the list of available options:
    • Stay on current - no redirect occurs, a customer stays on the currently viewed page
    • Home Page - a customer is redirected to the site's home
    • Customer -> ... - a customer is redirected to the correspondent tab of their frontend account
    • Customer Service - a customer is redirected to the Contact form
    • Specified URL - a customer is redirected to some custom destination; if this option is selected, a new URL input field will get displayed, the custom redirection address should be specified there.

The same set of redirection options is available for the other events (registration and password recovery)

Note, in case of logout during checkout process or when customer is in their Customer Account area, a redirect will occur anyway, disregarding on whether 'Stay on current' option is selected, thus the extension duplicates native Magento behavior.

Registration form tab:

  • Display Newsletter Subscription Section (Yes/No) - displays Newsletter subscription checkbox. If Advanced Newsletter is installed, this option will display the list of newsletter segments set for current store view.
  • Display Terms and Conditions (Yes/No) - displays 'Terms & Conditions' checkbox. Terms and conditions must be set beforehand in Sales->Terms and Conditions
  • Registration Success Page - select the redirect target

Password Recovery form tab:

  • Password Request Success Page - select the redirect target after a customer uses password recovery option

Login with social networks

The extension allows customer to sign-up / log in with their existent Social Networks accounts. Currently, the extension supports the following services:

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • LinkedIn
  • Google
  • Amazon

Each of these services require setup: you just need to specify a couple of values (the set depends on a given service)

Every social network settings group has "What's this?" link button in the option comment. Click it to see a guideline on setting up the feature on the social network side.

Authorization via Amazon works under https:// protocol only.

If you require to disable the extension without removing it completely, go to System->Configuration->aheadWorks extension->AJAX Login->General and disable the extension there. Also, the extension can be switched off following steps 1-5 below, without deleting the files of the extension.
